Mother and child
The sculpture is reflecting the relationship between a parent, or carer, and a child, and how we feel the need to protect them and look after them as they are the most precious thing. But at the same time not to hold them back or restrain them, it is a fine balance.

Porcelain and Portland stone sculpture.
When facing this eye catching sculpture you are immediately struck by the gold leaf porcelain ball that seems to be floating on a textured organic porcelain shape that resembles a clam. The golden ball just touches the organic sculpture but at the same time it seems safe and secure. The two pieces are placed on a smooth natural Portland Stone plinth that enhances the sculpture and gives it a sense of strength and security, the three materials work well together and give an impression of natural opulence and warmth.
